Couponing with Mom

So on a very RARE trip, my Mom and I got to go couponing alone last night! It was fun, we're exhausted and Mom will have smooth legs, clean teeth and smell good for at least the next 6 months! We went to CVS, Walgreens, Winn Dixie and Target. Add in the hour it takes round trip and we didn't get home until 10 pm. Wow, the money we saved!

Let me start with the post run Publix trip with the WHOLE family (sweaty hubby included):

There are several items not shown in picture because we had a get together that night and cooked out. Long trip, busy weekend, but well worth it! Without coupons I would have spent $397.31 which use to be my entire month's budget. Because of coupons I only spent $143.97. Overall I saved 64%!  The only things I didn't get this week diapers but that's ok because I still have a pile from the Walgreens brand BOGO a few weeks ago when I paid $1.50 a package.

The only things I'll need to pick up over the next few weeks will be milk and meat. I can live with that!

  1. Good job! My problem is that we don't eat most of the things that their are coupons for. Hard to find too many coupons for whole foods.

  2. Reagan, you go, Girl!

Revjen, here is a tip: Use coupons to buy the things that you need (toothpaste, deodorant, cleaners, etc.) so that you have money left to buy the things that you want (whole foods).

    Happy shopping, All!

  3. YAY Reagan!!! Way to go!!!

revjen, I totally agree with Dawnmarie. That's what I do. Then I have $$ left over to buy the other stuff that I want! :)

  4. That is the type of diet we are S L O W L Y trying to make a change to! I mean S L O W L Y! Our first move has been to mostly organic (which you wouldn't know by looking at the prepackaged foods in this picture! lol) It's something we've been moving towards over the last 3-4 months. The kids juice is all natural, organic, we started buying fresh milk straight from a local dairy, a friend of mine has a mill and I'm getting fresh ground whole wheat from her. I can't remember the last time I bought frozen pizza! We've been making it ourselves.

I do what Dawnmarie says too. Sometimes though my frugal mind takes over when I see a good deal on something my family will eat and it is cheaper than what I could make it for.

You have to work out the balance with your budget.
