Return of the Weight Loss Challenge!

Back at the end of August I issued a weight loss challenge to my readers. I did a horrible job of keeping my posts on weight loss updated, but I did good with the weight loss! Since I issued the Weight Loss Challenge I have lost 20 pounds!!! Depending on the day that number fluctuates by 2-3 lbs, but never the less I went down 1 (almost 2) pant sizes!!!

Today my husband Eric and I started Insanity! It's this crazy workout program that uses no equipment other than your own body to help you lose weight and build muscle. Eric has already completed one round of Insanity last year with great results. You can read all about his quest to lose 100 lbs here. He only lacks 3 lbs. to meet the goal!

Today we did the fit test. This gives a starting point to see how far you have come when you complete the series. I did it! I'm exhausted but I did it! The great news is tomorrow it gets harder! Ugh! Did I say great news?!?  Eric asked me this morning after we were done and had recuperated a little if I had a favorite exercise that we did this morning..... Favorite? FAVORITE?? I told him it's hard to have a favorite torture!

So back on to the weight loss roller coaster. I hope to be successful. I'll keep you updated!

So, week #3 is here. I didn't lose a single pound, but...I did finally notice this week a difference in my clothes! That's just as good as losing a few more pounds!

Weight Loss Challange..weigh in #2

Ok folks here it is! Weigh in time! How did everyone do this week?

I've been ridiculously busy, which has helped with mindless snacking which I tend to do when bored. And as I sit and look at the family calendar it doesn't look like we'll be slowing down anytime soon! I haven't done a lot of "real" exercising this week. We took a walk on the beach Monday from one end of Ocean Springs front beach to the harbor. Have you ever tried to push a stroller through loose sand? It's very challenging! My hubby has lost 72 lbs in the last 8 months (he blogs about it here with great tips and encouragement). I've watched him do the Insanity workout program this week. I personally think he has death wish and know I am in no way physically ready for that workout program. I did the fit test and thought I was going to pass out!

Enough wasting time....the results for this week's weigh in 241! That's 6 lbs. since last week! I don't know where it left from..I'm thinking maybe it was my big toe. Nevertheless, the struggle continues.

Here is an example of about what I lost compared to the same weight in muscle. Makes me very proud of that 6 lb. difference, small changes are good!

Let me know how ya'll came out this week!

1st official weigh in for the Weight Loss Challange

Ok it's the first official weigh in of the weight loss challenge! I'm fighting my fingers to type my weight! I really don't want to publicize that number, but I have to be accountable! So here it goes.......... 247...........Ugh! I did it! Now begins the real work, making that number go down.

I'm not dieting using any gimmicks like Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem etc. Just good old fashioned watching what I eat and exercise. I've watched the weight melt off my husband Eric over the last 8 months and know first hand that this works! I will say this up front I am taking medication for PCOS which can help promote weight loss because of it's effects on that disease, but it is not significant.

Good luck!

Weight Loss Challange...on a budget

Now many of you know that over the last 8 months my husband Eric has made a HUGE change in his life. Right before Christmas he committed himself to a healthier lifestyle and it's paying off. To date he has lost 72 lbs! You can read his blog here. Now I'm a "healthy" girl (we will not say the "f" word in this post!), but what kind of wife would I be if I let my husband get skinnier than me!?  Along with my vanity and not wanting to be the only "healthy" person in my house, there is also the health side of this. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) which causes all kinds of "fun" side effects with the biggest two issues being difficulty with fertility, weightloss and basically I have "fake" diabetes. My body produces stuff that looks like insulin, acts like insulin but doesn't effect my sugar levels like insulin but provides all the bad stuff like higher risk of heart disease, cancer, heart attack, etc. Crazy I know!

So combine the fact that this is good for me with the challenge our Pastor Dustin issued the other day about "Bringing Sexy Back" (you can listen to that message here WARNING! ADULT CONTENT) by pledging to get fit and donate to a mission trip our church is supporting (long winded I know!).........I am jumping on the weight loss band wagon! Eric and I have both pledged $1 per pound to the mission.

So what is my plan? Well, besides the medication that the doctor which helps with the PCOS my goal is to just eat healthier. Cut back on calories, nothing drastic just a gradual change. Aim to eat more natural foods, when we can afford it and somewhere in this crazy, hectic life of mine fit in some exercise between being a housewife, raising two kids, homeschooling and writing this blog! That's it! Plain and simple.

What can you expect from HOC? I'll be researching more deals on healthier food when I can find it on sale! That's harder than you think!

So what do I want you to do with this information?

#1 Join me! Find something in your life that you can work on and DO IT! Doesn't matter what it is weight, addictions of all kinds, budget, etc.
#2 Find someone to help stay accountable for what you are trying to change. I'll be posting weekly about my success/failures so all of you will help keep me accountable! Weigh ins will be on Wednesdays.
#3 If you want to take part and participate/donate to the mission sponsored by Mosaic Church go here. Our church is debt free so feel assured that every penny donated goes towards missions not bills!
